Reason #42: The Sparkle Truck

The director of Faulconer Gallery drives a combination truck/community art project, now completely covered in multicolored glitter. Fun to look at? Yes. Possibly the most colorful car crash ever, if it were to happen? Definitely.

Reason #41: Saints Rest

The coffee shop downtown that’s always warm and laden with yummy baked treats and great coffee. Also, their random decals and bumper stickers are pretty great.

Reason #40: Stalkernet

Our online campus directory. Useful for those “…wait, which Rebecca are you talking about? The Poli Sci major or the one who lives in Lazier?” moments. Also great when looking up seniors who look nothing like their first-day-of-NSO stalkernet photos. :)

Reason #39: GORP

Being able to borrow skiis from the GORP (Grinnell Outdoor Recreation Program) office and learning how to cross country skii (thank you Grinnell Nordic Society members!) on a random Sunday afternoon in February.

Reason #35: Inspiration Candy and Shots

At 12:22am on the Wednesday of finals week, as I sit in one of the cubbies at the top of the jungle gym study space at the back of Burling with six other random grinnellians, we are greeted by three other grinnellians who are done with finals and want to support those of us who aren’t.

How do they show support? By handing us all candy and shots of rum with chasers. And so, those of us at the top of the jungle gym take a post-midnight shot together and resume paper writing.

Oh, Grinnell…

(My apologies for the sudden infusion of Burling-related reasons! It’s finals week. :P I’ll diversify soon, I promise.)

Reason #34: The fireplace lounge

Great for building forts and taking naps!

Reason #33: Vuvuzelas in Burling during finals week

While that might not sound awesome at first, when they are accompanied by Burling staff passing out candy and pipecleaners (no joke) it makes quite a hilarious sight.
